Diets without Exercise don't work

A study published as recently as 2nd December 2011 by Andreou E, Philippou C, Papandreou D compared 200 obese women who were either put into a group of calorie reduced diets, or given an exercise program and a diet. After 18 weeks the results showed that in the diet and exercise group’s BMI reduction was significantly greater, waist circumference reduction was almost double, and most importantly body fat percentage reduced by 15.5%! Whereas there was no  significant change in the diet only group.

There is also a similar article written by Lara, M 2011. This compared the effects of diet only, exercise only and exercise and diet combined interventions on obese adults. Results were taken after six months and whilst on average the diet only group lost 6kg, the group who performed diet and exercise lost 11kg, that’s almost 2 stone.

These studies highlight the importance of regular exercise along with a healthy balanced diet if you are serious about achieving a weight loss goal.
